Our Chair at Toxo18 in Brazil

Members of our Chair travelled to Búzios, Brazil, for the 18th International Congress on Toxoplasmosis – Toxo Meeting 18, held from June 14–17, 2026. Prof. Markus Meissner, Dr Elena Jimenez-Ruiz and Vitoria Castor joined researchers from around the world for four days dedicated to Toxoplasma gondii research.

For the first time hosted in Brazil, Toxo18 brought together a broad spectrum of the field, from parasite cell biology, metabolism and stage conversion to host–pathogen interactions, clinical and congenital toxoplasmosis, epidemiology and environmental transmission.

It was a fantastic opportunity to present and discuss our research, discover exciting developments across the field, meet old friends and establish new connections within the international Toxoplasma community.

Many thanks to the Toxo18 organizing committee and everyone involved for putting together such an inspiring meeting and for the warm welcome in Brazil!
